An Accra-based lawyer, Mr Charles Obeng-Nkum was elected at the weekend as a parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Agona West for the 2012 general election.
Mr Obeng-Nkum who hails from Agona Abodom, near Agona Swedru defeated his contestant, Mr Samuel Oppong, Co-ordinator of the Computer Schools Selection and Placement System by 242 votes against 181.
Mr Emmanuel Kweku Tetteh, Agona West Municipal Chief Executive appealed to the contestants to accept the result of the election and team up to campaign to wrest the seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In an acceptance speech, Mr Obeng-Nkum thanked the delegates for the honour done him and assured them of hard work to win the seat in 2012. He appealed to the party supporters in the constituency to put behind them the outcome of the primaries and unite, to campaign for the party.
Mr Oppong pledged to co-operate with Mr Obeng-Nkum to work to reclaim the seat from the NPP. gna
