Wing Commander Francis Kabenla Anaman (rtd), was on Saturday elected the National Democratic Congress Parliamentary candidate for Jomoro for the 2012 elections.
He polled 419 votes as against 186 voted earned by Mr Thomas Elleam Yankey, the other contestant, out of 610 votes cast in a primaries held at Bawia in the Jomoro District of the western Region.
There were five rejected ballot papers.
The election was conducted by the Jomoro District officers of the Electoral Commission (EC) under the supervision of Mr J. R. D. Cobbinah, Western Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Dr Sipah Yankey, who represented the National Executives of the Party.
Addressing the gathering after the election, Wing Commander Anaman said his victory was the beginning of NDC’s journey to re-gain the Jomoro seat from the Convention Peoples Party (CPP).
Wing Commander Anaman thanked the delegates for voting him as the Parliamentary candidate and appealed to all members to join hands to re-capture the seat.
Mr Thomas Elleam Yankey congratulated his rival on his victory and promised to cooperate with him and the Party in general to win the seat in the 2012 general elections.
There were solidarity messages from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Convention Peoples Party and the Peoples National Convention (PNC). GNA
