Better Ghana Management Services Limited has unfolded a programme to undertake hand washing education inschools in the Upper East Region with the aim of reducing communicable diseases among school children.
The Upper East Regional Coordinator of the company, Mr Daniel Darku, told the GNA that his outfit undertook hand washing education to the Atulbabisi Primary School in the Bolgatanga Municipality and presented the school with toiletries.
He said research had shown that 60 per cent of communicable diseases were preventable if strict adherence to hand washing after visiting toilets was done and also before eating.
He appealed to school children to adhere strictly to hand washing especially after visiting toilet facilities or before taking their meals and also impressed upon teachers to ensure that children complied with the practice so as to stay healthy.
”Educational talks on personal hygiene are also done in all the schools in the districts of the region”, he said.
The Headmistress of the Atulbabisi Primary School, Mrs Margaret Apoka, commended Better Ghana Management Services Limited for the programme and the presentation. gna
