Asamoah scores Ghana winner Against Gabon

Derek Asamoah scored his debut goal to hand the Ghana a 2-1 win against Gabon on Tuesday in an international fixture.

The second half substitute nodded in on the stroke of full time at the Stade Municipal at Saint-Leu-la-Foret in the suburbs of Paris from a Derek Boateng cross as he made his international after three years.

Ghana went in front after 15 minutes when Agyemang Badu scored from the spot after a Ghanaian player had been felled in the box.

But the 2012 African Nations Cup co-hosts equalised before the break when Eric Moulongui headed home a free kick from Stephane Nguema and past Adam Kwarasey.

Charles Takyi and Jeffrey Schlupp were both handed their first senior caps as they came on as substitutes.

The game ended a busy year of international football ahead of the turn of the year.

Both sides were preparing for next year’s African Nations Cup finals where Gabon are co-hosts and Ghana among the favourites.

  1. The players should keep it up, but Kelvin should be advised to come back.
