Dr. Spio-Garbrah picks up NDC nomination form to challenge Mills and Nana Konadu

Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, CEO of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization (CTO) has resigned as Vice Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress and has picked up nomination forms by proxy to challenge President Mills and former first Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.

Alhaji Nasir, a representative from the office of Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah confirmed to Citi News that the former Vice Chairman of the ruling NDC intends to contest for the flagbearership slot in the upcoming Sunyani Congress in July hence his decision to pick up the nomination forms on his behalf.

The New Statesman on Monday May 9, reported that the CEO of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization (CTO) was likely to resign his position as a Vice Chairman of the Party and pick up his nomination forms.

Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah declined to confirm or deny media reports suggesting that he will pick up the forms for the flagbearer position in an interview on Monday.

Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah contested the 2006 primary but lost to Prof Mills, who then went on to win the 2008 general elections.

Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings and President John Mills are the only persons to have picked up nomination forms to contest the party’s flagbearership slot to be held as part of a national delegates congress from July 8-10, 2011 at the Brong Ahafo regional capital of Sunyani.
