President Mills, Former President Rawlings and his wife Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings are taking part in a crunch emergency meeting of the NDC’s National Executive Committee at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra.
The key agenda of the meeting is to set up guidelines for the party’s Presidential primaries expected to take place in December 2011.
Lots of party big bigwigs are also at the meeting which is also expected to resolve the Mills-Rawlings rift which appears to be tearing the party apart. Citi News’ Daniel Adzraku who is at the Trade Fair Centre reports that there is heavy security presence at the venue.
It is feared that some agitated youth groups of the NDC could disrupt the meeting following recent developments in the party hence the heavy security presence to ward off such eventualities.
The party also hopes to conduct all internal elections this year ahead of the 2012 general elections. The Party expects to have a Presidential Candidate by the first week of December 2011 as well as its respective parliamentary candidates.
