Nepal ex-crown prince arrested on gun charges

Police in Nepal say they have arrested a former crown prince after he fired a gun during an argument.

Officials said Tuesday they were questioning Paras Shah, who has said in a statement he fired a single shot.

Shah said two guests at a restaurant insulted him and the monarchy. He said he fired the gun because he could not bear to hear insults against his family and country.

Shah is the son of deposed King Gyanendra, who left power in 2008 when Nepal abolished the 239-year-old monarchy. voa
