Former Deputy Minister for Energy in the NPP administration, Hon Kobina Tahir Hammond, has sued the Mills administration over plans to reclaim a plot of state land sold to him and some others under President Kufuor’s reign at the airport residential area.
The Adansi Asokwa MP filed the law suit early this week after Government announced it was reclaiming all state lands sold to former Government officials over the last decade.
It followed National Security investigations which exposed alleged nepotism, cronyism and possible corruption in the disposal of the state lands under the Accra Redevelopment Scheme.
Government has since asked all those who benefitted from the state lands to contact the appropriate state agencies for re-fund of monies they have paid towards the said properties.
But, in fulfillment of his earlier threat to seek redress in court if government made any move to reclaim his land, Hon KT Hammond said he is seeking an injunction to halt the government’s attempts to repossess land he says he legally acquired.
“I have gone to court, and the government will be served very soon” he told Citi News Parliamentary Correspondent Richard Sky.
He is seeking an injunction to restrain the defendants – Lands Commission, Attorney General, etc – from constructing a wall around the area and ongoing excavation works on the land proper
He is also asking for specific performance to ensure that his allocation is not tampered with and he is allowed to enjoy his right.
The legislator is also seeking an order rescinding the directive to the Lands Commission not to issue title documents to him.
