Twenty two months after assuming the presidency of Ghana, President John Evans Atta Mills has finally given a top post to a former opponent in the race he won to lead the NDC, Dr Kwesi Botchway.
Dr Botchway, a former Minister of Finance under the Rawlings-led NDC administration and currently a member of the Economic Advisory Council has been appointed head of a National Gas Development Task Force, according to a press release issued on Wednesday October 6, 2010 at the Presidency and signed by J K Bebaako-Mensah, Secretary to the President.
The seven (7) member Task Force has been charged to manage and help expedite the on-going gas commercialization project. It will review all aspects of the project, including its technical, commercial, economic and financing options, and make recommendations on most efficient and viable way of bringing the project to fruition.
The other members of the Task Force include Mr Amarquaye Amar, Energy Policy Advisor to the President; Hon Emmanuel Armah, Kofi Buah, Deputy Energy Minister; Nana Asafu-Adjaye, Managing Director, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).
Others are Dr Kwaku Temeng, Energy Expert and Member of the GNPC Board of Governors; Mr seth Tekper, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning; and Ms Anna Bossman, Deputy Commissioner of CHRAJ.
The Ministry of Energy is to provide a secretary to the Task Force, the statement said.
