NPP chairman and Gen. secretary interrogated by CID

NPP national chairman Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, Gen. secretary Kwadwo Owusu Afiriyie, and Frances Assiam on Friday, October 1 appeared at the CID headquaters for questioning.

The three were invited by the Police, following a formal complaint for their arrest by a group calling itself the Media Analyst Group.

According to the group, the trio made comments which caused fear and panic during and after the Atiwa by-election.

Frances Assiam said in an interview following the by-election that two people had died on the day of voting. And chairman Jake also spoke on the issue of two NPP members dying or being killed after the by election, in an interview with the media following the voting, Jake said he had received info from source within the NPP that two supporters of the party were killed by the NDC, he however said he couldn’t comfirm it himself whether it was true.

Sir John also accused NDC’s Anita de Souza of deliberately driving through some NPP supporters with the intention of hurting and possibly killing them.

Speaking with the media after leaving the CID headquaters the NPP General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afiriyie, said they were interrogated on the said comments, he also said (speaking for himself) he denied ever accusing the NDC of killing anybody, he said as far as he’s concern, the matter is closed, but should the police decide to pursue the matter any furder, he and his colleagues will be present to assist the Police.
