Singer Wyclef Jean Hospitalized

Ex-Presidential hopeful Wyclef Jean has been hospitalized at an undisclosed hospital in New Jersey. A statement from the singer’s representative said the 34 year old grammy award winner is “sufering from fatigue and stress based on a grueling eight weeks he’s had.”

Early last month the Hatian born and American based musician filed for candidacy in the 2010 Haitian presidential election. On August 20, 2010, he was deemed ineligible to run for the presidency and his candidacy was rejected by Haiti’s Electoral Commission. The commission said it rejected Wyclef’s application because he did not meet the residency requirement of having lived in Haiti for five years before the Nov. 28 election.

After the ruling the singer said ” I respectfully accept the committee’s final decision, and I urge my supporters to do the same”.

Wyclef Jean’s family released a statement on Monday corfirming His hospitalization, in the statement they said “Wyclef Jean has had an extremely grueling three months — truly an exhausting eight months, since the earthquake when he recommitted himself to our homeland and his passion for our people,” the statement read. “He is currently suffering the effects of lack of sleep and stress, global travel, even the endless public eye, and has asked that his fans and supporters bear with him for the next several days as he regains his physical health and stamina. Then he will be back out in front of the crusade to rebuild Haiti and his pledge to make it even better for business”
