A final year student of the University of Ghana is in the grips of the Legon police for rape.
23-year-old Ernest Adu Gyamfi is alleged to have forcibly had sex with a student of Accra polytechnic on the night of Friday, September 17.
The lady had gone to the University of Ghana campus to visit her boyfriend when he met Adu Gyamfi who fraternized with her, in the absence of the boyfriend and later took her number. Adu Gyamfi later called the lady to meet him in his room where he forcibly had sex with her.
Speaking to Citi News the Legon Police Commander, ASP Emmanuel Tei Tetteh said the suspect, admitted committing the offence when he was arrested. He said a medical report from the Legon Hospital also confirmed the rape.
“She brought the medical form and the report is in the affirmative. We are building the docket and then we will send him to court for a remand. We are building a docket that will be sent to the Attorney General for advice. This case is a felony and since it is an offence that has been committed, he would have to be dealt with according to the law.” He said.
Meanwhile the lady in question, speaking to Citi News said the suspect has since the incident apologized to her through a text message.
