The President, Professor John Evan Atta Mills, yesterday donated 12 saloon cars to the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice to enhance the delivery of justice in the country.
The vehicles, made up of 10 Nissan and two Chevrolet vehicles were received on behalf of the Ministry by the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Mrs. Betty Mould-Iddrisu.
According to President Mills, the role the Attorney-General’s Department and the Ministry of Justice played in the country’s governance and dispensation of justice was crucial to its present and future development and survival.
“It is for this reason that the Ministry has to be equipped with logistics and other forms of aids to enable the personnel to discharge their duties to move forward the development of the country,” he said.
President Mills said, being a lawyer himself, he was aware of the environment in which the personnel of the Ministry worked for which reason the government would strive to support them in their endeavours.
He said, the government very much appreciated and recognised the work of the personnel in the Ministry, stressing that the government would provide them with all the tools they needed to enable them to offer their best.
Mrs. Mould-Iddrisu thanked President Mills for the gesture, adding that the donation had come at the time when the Ministry was expanding its activities to serve the people, especially the deprived and disadvantaged.
She said, the Ministry has beefed up its personnel to meet the challenges bordering on criminality and other issues which demanded specialised legal opinions.
